Chatham-Kent Aktion Club does Community Service

May 16, 2013
The Chatham-Kent Golden K and the Chatham-Kent Aktion Club joined forces on Thursday, May 16th to do some community service.  They took their job of cleaning up Sewart Street Park very seriously and ended their work with a wonderful BBQ.  A special thanks to Golden K who provided the food and to Ross' Nurserymen Landscape and Garden Centre who donated the "Rose of Sharon" bush that was planted at Community Living building at their Stewart Street location.

Windsor's Sunshine Point Camp Gets Ready for Summer!

May 18, 2013
When there is a job to be done and not enough hands to do it, Kiwanians join together to get it done!  The clean up at Windsor's Sunshine Point camp was no exception.
On Saturday, May 18th members of the Windsor Kiwanis club along with LG Bud Orr, his wife Jackie, members of the Leamington Kiwanis Club and friends joined together to get Sunshine Point ready for summer.  This will be the camp's 65th year of operation serving the children of Windsor and Essex county and unfortuately, it may be it's last.  Due to declining club membership and other health related issues, members of the Windsor club are finding it increasingly more difficult to maintain the camp that allows young children who may never have an opportunity to have a "vacation" away from their home, a chance to meet new friends, learn new skills and have fun!!  If you wish to donate to help keep the camp "alive and well" please visit the following site - Donate to Sunshine Point

Canada-US Goodwill Banquet April 2013

April 30, 2013
Another very successful Canada US Goodwill Banquet was held on Tuesday, April 30th at the Port Huron Golf Club.  The event was hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Bluewater Area.  This is a time when members from Division 3 of Michigan and Division 3 of the Eastern Canada and Caribbean District come together to celebrate Kiwanis, share fellowship and to raise a little for the children of the world.  Division 3 LG Bud Orr created a way of raising funds for the ELIMINATE project.  His idea was to carry a gas can to every event that he attends and to pass around the can seeking out donations.  We won't be able to know the results of his 2 year collection until the end of his term as LG but I know that through the generosity of everyone Bud comes in contact with, many lives will be saved in the end.
Unfortunately Bud forgot his gas can on the Canadian side of the border for this event so anything will do in a pinch!
LG Bud and his "substitute gas can" at the Canada US Goodwill Banquet - Keep up the great work Bud!
