Kiwanis One Day at LKCC

Tuesday, May 8, 2012
Kiwanis One Day - a day when all Kiwanians throughout the world join together and do service projects in their communities.  The official date for this event was Saturday, April 21st but in Canada the weather does not always cooperate with us so many clubs selected a date in May to do their work.  Members of the Kiwanis Club of Sarnia and the Sarnia-Lambton Golden K got together after their meeting on Tuesday to do some "sprucing up" activities at the Lochiel Kiwanis Community Centre.  Many hands make light work.
Graffiti is gone - thanks to Carla
Weeds are gone - thanks Bev, Ron and Mike
 Our new sign is up!
Walk ways are swept - thanks Bev, Ron and Mike
Playground area weeded and raked - thanks Sheila, Jerry and Stan
After we completed out activities outdoors we were treated to a wonderful lunch provided by Executive Director Bev.  As with any project of this magnitude, the work continues!!!

The key note speaker was US Consul General to Ontario, Mr. Kevin Johnson.  His topic was on Canada-US relationships and how we are on the road to making them better for everyone.  Congratulations to President Martin and his team for hosting such a wonderful event!

Division 3's First Walter Zeller!!!

April 23, 2012
It was a wonderful evening in Forest, Ontario yesterday.  Mary Alice Marchand, Division Coordinator for the ELIMINATE Project traveled from Chatham, Ontario with 3 other members of the Chatham-Kent Golden K to give her presentation to the Forest Club members.  Dr. John's message hit home.  There were few dry eyes in the meeting room after viewing his address.  To top off the evening and hit home the need to assist with this project, LGE Bud Orr presented Mary Alice with a personal cheque in the amount of $1400.00 which makes Bud our FIRST Walter Zeller Fellow in Division 3.  Bud is leading by example and issued a challenge to his class of LGE's to follow suit and donate to the cause.
Thank you Bud for leading the charge for Division 3.
