Division 3 DCM Activities

Jan. 14, 2012 - Windsor, Ontario
Division 3's Council meeting took place on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 at the Windsor-Roseland Golf and Curling Club.  My sincere thanks go to all club representatives who took time out of their day to attend this event.  Past Governor Chuck McIlravey and wife Dorothy traveled in very poor conditions on Friday from Toronto so he could fulfill his promise to conduct a mini-growth seminar at our meeting.  I am pleased to say that 9 out of 10 clubs in the division were represented with a total of 26 attendees.
Each club was provided with several pieces of important information regarding the operation within our division as well as Region A events and upcoming events.  An update on the ELIMINATE project was provided by Divisional Lead Mary Alice Marchand.  She is currently making the rounds to each club to give a presentation about ELIMINATE and to spark the idea of giving to this very worthwhile project.  The goal worldwide is $110 million over a 5 year period which started in 2010.  EC&C District did not join the project until our promise to the Children's Project against HIV/Aids was completed on Sept. 31, 2011.  A wrap up of this project will be provided at the EC&C Convention in Barbados in May.
Victoria Rode, LG Division 2of Eastern Canada Key Club was also in attendance.  Victoria braved the highway from Ingersoll to attend and to inform the members about the up-coming Key Club Convention in London, Ontario April 13-15th, 2012.  Each club within the division is encouraged to donate $400.00 so that the Key Club convention costs can be kept down to a reasonable rate.
PG Chuck gave his growth presentation which was excellent.

Again, many thanks to everyone for attending and especially to my friends Chuck and Dorothy for braving the weather conditions.  I sincerely hope that Chuck's presentation ignited the passion within each of you to start to grow your clubs to enable the work of Kiwanis to move forward.
