Golden K Kiwanis Club leaves a Legacy of Service

This past Tuesday, Sarnia-Lambton Golden K dedicated their 25 year anniversary project in McGibbon Park alongside the Sarnia Lochiel Kiwanis Centre.  The project consists of a concrete pad with access from the sidewalk for persons with mobility devices.  Over the pad is an awning to protect people from the sun during a normal summer.
The dedication ceremony took place after the regular club meeting and was attended by the Mayor, members of Council and representatives from several tenants of the building.  We had the pleasure of welcoming Past Governor Hope Markes, PLG Bud Orr and his wife Jackie.  Many members of the Club were on hand to witness the dedication and share with everyone the celebration cake.
The Mayor and Club President, Mike Shimmin unveiled the plaque.  We were fortunate that we managed to get everything done before another rain shower soaked the area.

Sunshine Point Camp

July 28, 2017

An Interclub from Sarnia-Lambton Golden K joined many others at the Windsor Club’s Sunshine Point Camp in Harrow for an appreciation Dinner.  Many members from Windsor-Roseland were also in attendance.
During the dinner John Foley was presented with a plaque recognizing his many, many years of service and devotion to the camp.  It was through that dedication that the camp has survived and now others in the club have picked up the torch and are working to rebuild and rejuvenate the camp.  A Windsor company “Ground Effects” was also recognized for its generous donation of $50,000 over 5 years to the camp.  Many other companies who donated material and labour to restore the main kitchen, pool and other cabins was acknowledged.

LG Update June 2017

It has been a busy month.
First event was the membership training in Hamilton to which many clubs in our Division sent representatives.  Thank you to all who participated.

Next was the District Convention in Ottawa.  It was a great event and learning experience for all who managed to attend.  If you have never attended one, next year it is being held in Montego Bay in Jamaica at an all-inclusive resort.  They have negotiated special rates for the duration of the Convention and it includes days before or after at the same rate.

Hello Division 3:

2015-2016 Governor Allen Ure has announced that 103 or 42% of the clubs in EC&C have achieved Distinguished status. The list of clubs can be found by clicking here.
Governor Allen offers his praise and thanks for the hard work all the 245 clubs performed in 2015-2016. He especially wants to thank those clubs who met the targets set and achieved 'Distinguished Status'. These clubs will receive a club banner patch and will be recognized in the program at the District Convention in Ottawa.

I am pleased to announce on behalf of PLG Cathy Telfer that 5 out of the 7 clubs in Division 3 have achieved Distinguished Status for the 2015-2016 Kiwanis year.
Congratulations to the Past Presidents and Secretaries and all the members of each club that have worked tirelessly over the past year to make the lives of children in our own communities and in the global community a little more pleasant.
Chatham-Kent, Forest, Sarnia-Lambton Golden K, Seaway Sarnia and Windsor clubs - my hat is off to you all!
