Kiwanis Club of Chatham Kent Scholarships

On Wednesday, June 14th I had the pleasure of attending the Chatham Kent dinner meeting where 3 scholarships were presented to 3 very deserving students who will be heading off to new adventures in the fall.

It was also the induction of Mary Beth Cochrane as the newest member of the Chatham Kent Kiwanis club.  Watching the process was her daughter and husband as sponsor George Service presents her with her membership pin.
Congratulations to the scholarship recipients and WELCOME Mary Beth to our Kiwanis family!

LG Update June 2017

It has been a busy month.
First event was the membership training in Hamilton to which many clubs in our Division sent representatives.  Thank you to all who participated.

Next was the District Convention in Ottawa.  It was a great event and learning experience for all who managed to attend.  If you have never attended one, next year it is being held in Montego Bay in Jamaica at an all-inclusive resort.  They have negotiated special rates for the duration of the Convention and it includes days before or after at the same rate.

At the Convention Host night on Friday, your LG bid on the top hat that is being taken from convention to convention to raise funds for Eliminate.  Below is the team that put in the winning bid of $400.

On Saturday we had the voting for the Officers for 2017-18 and Jackie and Bud Orr were the Sergeants-at-Arms ensuring that only Voting Delegates were allowed into the voting side of the assembly.

Again, on the Saturday we had the pictures taken of the current Trustees and LG’s.

This past week I have been busy presenting the Distinguished Banner Patches to 5 of the clubs in our Division.  These were earned for 2015-16 under the excellent Leadership of Past Lieutenant Governor with Excellence, Cathy Telfer.  Congratulations to Cathy for that award and also for the Frank Summerhayes award for the best LG bulletins in the District.
