Governor Janet's Visit to Division 3

April 16-18th, 2012
Gov. Janet paid Division 3 a visit last week!  We started off with the Regional meeting in London on April 15th, which followed her attendance at the Eastern Canada Key Club Convention which was also held in London, Ontario April 13-15th.  Once in Division 3 it was non-stop driving and fun.
Monday saw us viewing the local projects that the Kiwanis clubs in Sarnia work so hard to maintain and support.

Monday evening saw us in Forest visiting with the members of the Kiwanis Club of Forest.  Governor Janet enjoyed a tour of the Kiwanis Kineto Theatre, the second oldest independently operated theatre in Canada.  A newly constructed museum room has been created upstairs at the Theatre to showcase the theatre's past history.  A new adventure is about to begin for the theatre - they are going DIGITAL as of April 23rd with the installation of new projection equipment that will allow them to continue to present first run movies to the public in Forest and the surrounding area.

Tuesday morning has the Governor up bright and early to assist the members of the Sarnia-Lambton Golden K at P.E. McGibbon School with their "Breakfast Program".  Golden K has also started the "Terrific Kids" program at this school which has been warmly received.

After attending the Sarnia-Lambton Golden K's meeting at 9:30am we headed to the meeting of the Kiwanis Club of the Seaway.

Tuesday evening saw us in Windsor, Ontario attending the Windsor Club's evening meeting and meal.  Past LG Al Mifflin's son, Harlen was in attendance to discuss the upgrades at Windsor's Sunshine Point Camp.

Wednesday morning we attended the Windsor-Roseland Golden K meeting with members of the Windsor East club present for the event.

Wednesday afternoon saw us travelling south to visit the Sunshine Point Camp and the Kiwanis Club of Leamington's Boys and Girls Camp.

After our tours of the camps we headed back to Chatham to enjoy a wonderful meal with members of the Kiwanis Club of Chatham and the Chatham-Kent Golden K.  After dinner we attended the Chatham Kiwanis Music Festival where we enjoyed music presented by youth 11-13 years of age.

It was a whirlwind tour of Division 3 which saw the Gov. departing via the Sarnia Chris Hadfield Airport on Thursday morning back to the comforts of her home in Ottawa.  Many thanks to everyone for providing Gov. Janet with such a warm, friendly welcome to Division 3.
